The Department of Sociology and the Institute for African American Studies (IAAS) invite applications for a jointly appointed tenure-track assistant professor position to begin fall 2017. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Sociology or have completed all the requirements for this degree by August 1, 2017. We seek an outstanding scholar whose empirical research and substantive interests focus on race and ethnicity. Successful candidates will have a record of high quality research and demonstrate potential for a strong publication record. Preference will be given to candidates who also show promise in obtaining extramural funding. Successful applicants will demonstrate their ability to teach courses on race and ethnicity at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
