Dr. Pridemore’s main research interests include the effects of social structure, alcohol, and policy on violence, health, and mortality. He has published over 110 peer-reviewed articles, with many appearing in top tier journals in sociology, criminology, public health, and drug use. His research accomplishments led to him being elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Fellow of the American Society of Criminology. Dr. Pridemore will be joining us from the School of Criminal Justice at the University at Albany – State University of New York, where he is SUNY Distinguished Professor and where he served as Dean from 2015 to 2020. During his Deanship US News & World Report ranked the School #2 of 41 PhD programs in the United States, and College Factual ranked it #3 of 400+ undergraduate programs.
