cover page for a research article on dementia risks

Congratulations to our graduate student, Rachael Weaver, for leading a new paper co-authored with Dr. Karlo Lei, published in the Alzheimer’s Association journal Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Behavior & Socioeconomics of Aging: ‘Comorbid diabetes and hypertension in early adulthood predict neurodegeneration in midlife: Insights across racial/ethnic groups using a blood-based biomarker of dementia risk.’ The study finds that experiencing both diabetes and hypertension in early adulthood is associated with greater neurodegeneration risk in midlife, and that racial/ethnic patterning in these associations underscores the need for early, culturally responsive prevention and equity-focused care.
