Doctoral Candidate I am a sociological social psychologist, and I study status inequality—the differences in prestige between members of small groups. My dissertation examines the spread of status inequality between task groups and social groups. This work aims to explain under what conditions one sees similar inequality structures within both formal and informal settings, such as why the same behavioral inequality in a workplace meeting can continue at a workplace lunch. This theoretical extension contributes to knowledge on status inequality as well as provides valuable information to those attempting to reduce status inequality in applied settings.
