Department of Sociology Awards The Department of Sociology offers undergraduate awards that highlight undergraduate students who excel academically, demonstrate a high potential for professional development in sociology, and are working to promote community service and public engagement. Barrow Scholarship The Phyllis Jenkins Barrow Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating major who is a Georgia resident and has excelled academically. W.E.B. DuBois Award Our W.E.B DuBois Award promotes community service and public engagement through academic contributions (e.g., a term paper, academic presentation, research proposal). Wells Award Our Ida B.
